Bits per Seconds (bps)

Bits per seconds (bps) is a measuring unit for data transfer. It mainly serves for the conducting speed of the modems and lines, it corresponds to the number of data sent/received per second. At a transmission rate of 2,400 bps, approximately 240 characters per second are transmitted. For large data volumes, sometimes greater measurement units are used. A kilobit per second (kbps) corresponds to 1,000 bps. A megabit per second (Mbps) even 1,000,000 bps respectively 1,000 kbps.
