Company Owned, Personal Enabled (COPE)

COPE (company owned, personal enabled) is a concept which works similar to the CYOD. With COPE, staff may use the deviced made available by the company for private purposes, too. It is the advantage for the staff member, that he may use the device both for professional and private purposes, he does not have any acquisition costs. The company decides on the device and its configuration. Choosing COPE, the company retains a better control on the devices which are integrated in the network. The disadvantage of this approach is that a separation between private and professional use needs to be performed. When privately used, the risk of a loss and thus the business data increases.
