Software Licensing by DARZ

For many departments, license management ranks among those activities which take a considerable amount of time and require good knowledge and administrative skills. A clean license management prevents you from spending unnecessary financial resources while ensuring that you are always set in terms of compliance and proper legal methods. DARZ supports you with its Licensing-as-a-Service system for VMware and Microsoft.

The VMware Licensing Program

The VMware licensing program from DARZ enables the licensing of VMware infrastructures based on actual consumption. VMware licensing allows the operation of a virtualization environment by DARZ for users as a managed service. The outsourcing of the virtualized IT environment to DARZ as a service provider enables the user to avoid licensing, hardware and ongoing operating costs. DARZ is authorized to license domestic and foreign VMware infrastructures through a monthly licensing model in monthly cycles. Actual consumption is used for the calculation.

Calculation Basis

By using the optional VMware licensing service from DARZ, the customer is entitled to the most comprehensive support package of VMware Corporation. At this time, the opening of support cases takes place via new user IDs, which DARZ provides customers as a service provider. This added value is part of optional services and does not incur any additional costs.

Licensing of Microsoft by DARZ

Companies that use software and services with Microsoft as service provider will use the Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement (Microsoft SPLA) model.
The provision of Microsoft licenses for servers and services by service providers was established by Microsoft. Companies pay only by usage, remaining flexible and avoiding investments in their own IT. The service provider assumes the technical provision and maintenance of the IT infrastructure. A changed license use requires adapted licensing models on the part of the software provider.
Through the SPLA, the user has the option to choose between the two Microsoft Licensing models “Per Subscriber” and “Per Processor”.

Per Subscribers

By choosing this licensing model, the customer does not need a separate server license. Any user or device that connects to the licensed system requires a so-called Subscriber Access License (SAL).

Per Processor

By choosing licensing by the number of processors used, an unlimited number of users or devices can access the licensed systems.
