DARZ was awarded 1st place in the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) category at the Best in Cloud 2015 event held by Computerwoche magazine. The IT full service provider, headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany, received the award for a project it had devised for the startup Helpium, in which the first genuine hybrid cloud based on NetApp Private Storage as a Service (NPSaaS) was implemented.
Helpium.de is an Internet platform that links PC users to specialists who offer them remote help with computer problems. To ensure the security of the sensitive data transferred in this process, Helpium relied exclusively on dedicated capacities in German data centers. However, these did not offer the required flexibility and performance.
The solution to this problem is offered by NetApp Private Storage as a Service. Storage systems are now provided to Helpium.de in a hybrid cloud model at the high security data center of DARZ. They are linked via secured network connections based on a dedicated fiberglass infrastructure to various hyperscalers. This allows Helpium to receive processing power from the cloud in a flexible and scalable manner without having to compromise data security.
The planning and implementation of the project also convinced the twelve-member jury of experts of Best in Cloud 2015 competition, who awarded DARZ 1st place in the category Infrastructure as a Service on September 17, 2015.
“We are very excited to receive this award,” said Lars Göbel, Sales and IT Manager at DARZ. “On the one hand, it confirms that the future belongs to hybrid cloud models such as NetApp Private Storage as a Service. On the other hand, coupled with the Deutscher Rechenzentrumspreis (German Data Center Award), it is proof that DARZ offers its customers first-rate solutions for both IT services and data centers.”
